Day After Christmas: Ice Skating in Wiesbaden

After gift-opening and a big roast beef dinner for eleven on Christmas Day, Nick and Patrick joined Georg for a trip to Paris, and Michael drove off with Omi and Opi for a few days' vacation.

That gave me some "auntie time." We took Aaron and Kate ice skating in Wiesbaden on the rink I use to take the boys to EVERY SINGLE WEEKEND. Hadn't been there since we'd returned from our year in the US, so it was great fun to drink the hot chocolate piled high with whipped cream, eat their delicious fries with mayonnaise, and of course, to skate.

Aaron was gliding on the ice right away. Note how he can lift one leg high while skating. To Mary and Mark's surprise, Kate also enjoyed skating while pushing the penguin or dwarf. The weather was mild, and it was the perfect ending to nearly two weeks in Germany.
