On Sunday Michael and I went with Aaron and Mark to Eppstein's castle. On the left, the boys are climbing the stairs of the Beggar Boy Tower, whose dungeon held debtors until their debts were paid. Michael told Aaron the legend of Knight Eppo killing the giant and showed him the big bone above the castle entrance, actually a whale bone.
In the museum, we looked at the castle models, checked out the big oven, admired a knight's armor, then went out to throw a penny down the castle well.
Aaron spied the playground below the castle from one of the walkways, so despite everything being damp, he and Michael see-sawed and spun around in the roundabout.
Nick and Patrick walked over the hill to meet us at Eppstein's Turkish kebab and pizza shop. We warmed up there and ate our fill, even eating the extra cheese pizza we planned on bringing back to Mary and Kate.
